The Good

  • The Dungeon World game I’m playing in continues to kick ass. Playing a fighter is fun, y’all. (And that’s something you don’t normally get to say in a tabletop RPG…)
  • My buddy passed along a copy of Scum & Villainy, a Star Wars-y take on Blades in the Dark, for me to look at. I haven’t gotten a chance to start in the past couple weeks, but I’m excited.
  • Been thinking about finally getting some games rolling as a GM again.
  • Much progress has been made on general cleaning, and the tilt is about to made into having it be more decluttering-focused. I’m especially excited to have all the kit (finally found a tripod in a thrift store) to document my old paintings, so I can dispose of the originals and free up a ton of storage space.
  • I put stickers on my laptop. Stickers are good.
  • I got some freelance transcription work and both enjoyed it and was told I did a good job! Which is good to hear, given how many names of small towns and geographic areas in Canada I’m sure I slaughtered, spelling-wise. (Luckily the person I was working for is a native of the particular area and was more than happy to correct my errors.)
  • Have a couple of interesting longer-term project ideas. Most promising so far is a blog that’s essentially the non-toxic-masculinity version of Art of Manliness.
  • I have an interview scheduled tomorrow! I’m nervous, but hopefully they’ll like me and I’ll start bringing in a (small) paycheck again.
  • Ordered a new MP3 player (Sansa Clip Sport woo) to replace the one that went MIA.
  • After refilling the bird feeders we’ve been being frequently visted by the woodpeckers that live out in the ravine. Turns out they love suet-based bird food! There’s a female who nibbles at it a lot, and yesterday a male came and hung off the bottom of the bird feeder upside-down while he ate, which was really fun to watch.
  • Extremely good date with Peter on Friday, and good times just hanging out yesterday evening.

The Bad

  • Work on my Shivering Deeps rewrite ground to a halt. Having trouble getting started again, which is a shame, because I have only a few scenes/chapters left to rewrite before it’s ready to go to beta reader(s).
  • Realized I forgot to do something for school that was due months ago. It wasn’t class related, so I didn’t lose on any grades or anything, but digging up the info I needed to do it was a total pain. It’s done now, though.
  • My sleep schedule is totally out of whack, which has led to a weird combination of oversleeping, having trouble getting to sleep, waking up in the middle of the night (though going back to sleep relatively quickly), and stress dreams/nightmares! So that’s cool.
  • Short story rejected. Got a pretty personalized rejection letter, so that’s cool, at least.
  • I want to fill my house with plants but plants cost money, y’all.
  • The roach colony is running low on tiny roach friends to feed the geckos, so I had to drop a chunk of change on getting a bunch of small ones to do a restock.
  • I’ve been melting most days, leading to mid-day sleeping and general unproductivity. Also, because the windows in my room open horizontally instead of vertically, there’s like one model of air-conditioner avaiable and it starts at ~$400-$500 for some reason.
  • Haven’t heard anything from the jobs I am/was really exicited about, except for the occasional rejection. :\

So that’s my week! How was yours? What did you get up to?
